Hello everyone!
This is the first entry that I will update instead of Brandie, so if it is not up to expectations, please pardon me in advance.
We have arrived in Italy (which I think we have already told most of you) and our staying with our new friends Melanie and Donovan. They have been kind enough to invite us into their home, share food, and drive us to all the appointments and locations that we have to keep. Additionally, Melanie even made time to take us to one of the three castles in Naples. Castel dell'ovo sits in the bay of Naples enjoying a wonderful view of the coastline and the surprisingly clear water.
So Julianna (our host from the University) showed us two apartments in the city, of which we selected the first one. Its a great flat very near the center of the city whose rent includes all utilities! The only down side is that we may have to move in a year, since the manager of the property wants to move into that same apartment when his own contract ends where he lives now. No worries, we are just happy to have a wonderful place to move into so soon after arriving. We will make the move on the 28th.
So now we are looking into getting cell phones, internet connection at the apartment (which does not have a phone line) and learning the metro routes to the Policlinico (where Brandie will be working) Further, I have contacted the VA and am having my Education files transferred so I can start attending classes. The process of getting enrolled starts with applying for my visa. I have options from attending at the school on the military base, at an international university, online, or some combination of the three.
We had rain on Wednesday, and maybe again on Sunday, but all others have been partly cloudy or sunny and near 50F. LOVE winter in Italy.
Ok, that is all for now, we are going out to dinner. Hope all of you are well, and feel free to contact us at either email address.
