Shopping trip
29 January 2005 21:52We went out to buy heaters for our new apartment today. It took stops at two different stores of the same name, Auchan. It is kind of like a SuperTarget, but with amazingly good produce and fresh meat. Although, I think that Auchan might be just the name for the mall (the first stop has about 200 stores and the second one has about 40) and the name of the store that we bought stuff in(the SuperTarget feel-alike) may have been called Ipercoop. I think that is right. I'm still learning and there is currently no one around for me to ask. We were very excited to find a great heater for the living room/bedroom for E32 and a small space heater for the bathroom for E16.
Water here is SO CHEAP!!!!! We bought a 2 liter bottle of fizzy water for 52 cents. Barely half a Euro! Outstanding. Part of the reason that it is so cheap, I think, is because everybody buys it. You cannot drink the tap water here in Naples because of the high mineral content, mostly calcium, so everybody buys bottled water. Neapolitains swear that it is the water, however, that makes their pizza dough better than everyone else's. And their pasta better.
Tomorrow, we have two things planned. First, we are going to look at some used stuff at a "moving out of the country" sale. Hopefully we will be able to get cell phones and maybe a bookcase or two. Possibly a wardrobe. The our flat has only one wardrobe (no built-in closet) and we are certain that we will need another.
Have I mentioned how incredibly generous and cool our new friends Mel and Donovan have been??!?!?! This transition would have been significantly more difficult without them. I would like to send out a heartfelt "Thank you!" to both of them. Lana, you too. Thank you for the cell phone and the use of your car to move our boxes.
On a sad note, it has been difficult to find Aveda products so far. I will continue my search next week.
